July 6th, 2015. What an awesome, awesome day!

On July 6th, 2015 our second daughter was born.  A day I will always remember.

This pregnancy was different than my first in many ways.  One of those differences was that I had gestational diabetes this pregnancy and no trouble with it in my first.  Although, it wasn’t as bad as I thought when I first found out, and it was easily controlled by my diet, it was still scary, and boy, the self discipline!  To tell a pregnant woman they can’t have a chocolate chip cookie…HA.  Well it was tough but OH so worth it.

On July 6th, I had a doctors appointment.  I had an appointment the Thursday before and was sent to the hospital for monitoring, and then sent home when everything was fine.  Because of this, I was a little nervous about what would come of this doctors appointment.  I made Tim come with me this time, just in case.  I went to work in the morning and Madison’s daycare called 2 times in a few minutes, once because she hurt her lip and then because…”she just isn’t acting herself”.  They didn’t think she was sick, but didn’t really know.  So we left work quickly to go pick her up and asked my mom to meet us at the doctors office and take her home for the day.  (Thank goodness she is a teacher and off for the summer!)  I wanted to get back to work as I was running short on vacation time and didn’t know when I would have the baby!

I mentioned to my doctor that my blood sugars had been low the past few days.  Not my fasting numbers so much (well they were often low anyways, but they were no different) but after my meals they were getting back to my fasting numbers within 1 hour.  (I thought this was funny after a couple days because I would test the same meals I had had many times before and would expect somewhere in the mid 90’s an hour after, yet I was getting numbers like 76.)  I didn’t know if this mattered, as I felt fine.  I don’t seem to be bothered by low blood sugar, but just wanted to mention it.  I emailed my GD specialist as well, but hadn’t heard back yet.  The doctor went ahead and did a non-stress test and that looked great, but in the meantime she was trying to get ahold of some other doctors to see if this was a bad sign or something not to worry about.  After some discussion, being 38w4d, and having had MANY contractions anyways, and they were regular at 4min apart my entire NST, they decided to induce!  They were worried perhaps my placenta was deteriorating, meaning I didn’t have as many hormones in my system, that were causing the insulin resistance, so all of a sudden my insulin was back to producing what it needed much more quickly.

So there it was, off to the hospital we went.  I’m convinced that somehow Madison knew, something more important was happening that day than daycare!  It was crazy!

We stopped in at my parents to say Hi/Bye to her and let her know she would see us soon and meet her baby sister.

The induction was perfect.  I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!  My body was ready and my baby was ready.  They broke my water, started the piton (although I still was having contractions 4 min apart when I got there) and got my epidural 3 hours later.  Went from 2cm-9cm in 1 hour and was pushing soon after.  Sweet baby Laynie, Elena Katherine, was calmly born into this world soon after at 7lbs 6oz.  It was a very peaceful delivery and I will never forget it.  I am so blessed and in that moment of meeting my second daughter somehow, my heart exploded again with more love than I ever knew possible.

Baby Boy #3: Mister Anderson

I didn’t think I was going to be able to do newborn photos for this little guy, as I was due with my 2nd baby girl just 2 weeks after he was due to arrive.  We ended up squeezing in a session when Anderson was about 6 weeks old!  He didn’t want to sleep much for us, but was still such a happy boy!  With 2 big brothers to entertain him, who wouldn’t be happy??

Sweet Charlee

Charlee is such a beautiful baby girl and is so blessed with the sweetest parents.  Her room is perfectly decorated for their perfect Princess.  I had such a blast getting to know her and her parents and spending my morning capturing these everlasting memories of their life at this time.
